The Gothic choir stalls in St Castulus' Minster |
After the chancel had been completed, new oak choir stalls were placed in the church by 1475. The canons of the Moosburg clerical chapter assembled here several times a day for their prayers. The backs of the seats have a rich foliate decoration with masks and mythical creatures.

The sculptor of the stalls - only the carpenter Hermann is known by name - used contemporary engravings as models for his work. Some say the bearded head might be a self-portrait of the artist.
